About Broadmere

An independent reference on amateur astronomy, telescope use, and stargazing under Polish skies.

What this is

Broadmere is an editorially independent information archive focused on amateur astronomy in Poland. The content here covers telescope selection and maintenance, navigating the night sky using printed charts, observing the Moon and planets, identifying deep-sky objects, managing light pollution, and maintaining structured observation records.

The material is written for observers at every stage — from someone assembling their first 70 mm refractor to an experienced visual observer expanding their deep-sky programme. There are no sponsored recommendations, no affiliated retailer links, and no commercial arrangements that would influence the content.

How the content is produced

Articles draw on publicly available astronomical research, established practical guidelines from the amateur astronomy community, and verified data from authoritative sources including the International Astronomical Union, International Dark-Sky Association, and PTMA (Polskie Towarzystwo Miłośników Astronomii).

Each article includes a last-updated date at the top. Factual corrections, additions and updates are made when new information becomes relevant. If you find an error or have a correction, the contact form below accepts submissions.
